Various Roads in the Borough of Tunbridge Wells - Amendment 1: Traffic Movements

The effect of this made Order will be to revoke the Order of 2022 and this Bus Lane/Gate Order would be to allow Buses, Cycles and Taxis only during prescribed hours 9am till 6pm on the following length of roads in Tunbridge Wells:-

  • Grosvenor Road – from its junction with Calverley Road to its junction with Goods Station Road in both directions
  • Monson Road – from its junction with Monson Way to its junction with Mount Pleasant Road in both directions
  • Mount Pleasant Road – (1) from its junction with Crescent Road to its junction with Monson Road in both directions (2) from its junction with Newton Road to its junction with Calverley Road in both directions.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by Monday 24 November 2025, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
