Rennie Drive, Dartford - Enforcing Moving Traffic Offences

Kent County Council (KCC) are using new powers, approved by parliament in July 2022, to improve safety and tackle congestion by enforcing moving traffic contraventions.

We must ensure that reasonable improvements to the highway or traffic signing have been made prior to ANPR cameras being installed to avoid contraventions. This site meets these requirements, as during highway improvements to this area we have removed any obsolete signs. On implementation of the new bus lane in December 2024, we installed new bus lane signs to make the southbound bus lane clear to drivers. However, unauthorised vehicles are still using this lane.

We are proposing to enforce the Rennie Drive bus lane to ensure a smooth transition for the local buses using Kent Fastway.

The aim of the enforcement is to achieve the following objectives:

  • tackle network congestion
  • increase public transport reliability
