Kent Fastway - Joyce Green Lane to Crossways Boulevard, Dartford - Enforcing Moving Traffic Offences
Update: March 2024
Thank you to everyone who took part in this consultation. The Consultation Report is now available in the Documents section on this page.
The next step will be to advertise a new Traffic Regulation Order. We expect this to take place in Spring 2024. This would be followed by the installation of the ANPR cameras with enforcement starting soon after.
Kent County Council (KCC) are using new powers, approved by parliament in July 2022, to improve safety and tackle congestion by enforcing moving traffic contraventions.
We must ensure that reasonable improvements to the highway or traffic signing have been made prior to ANPR cameras being installed to avoid contraventions. This site meets these requirements, as currently the bus gates have physical barriers to prevent unauthorised traffic using the route, but these are old and require regular maintenance or repair. By replacing the barriers with cameras, we would ensure compliance and reduce the maintenance burden.
The aim of the enforcement is to increase public transport reliability and improve air quality.
