On-street electric vehicle charging
We want to make sure that everyone in Kent is able to make the switch to an electric vehicle (EV). If you can’t charge up where you live or work, you should be confident that you can access reliable, affordable public charge points within walking distance of your home.
We are working closely with many District, Borough, Town and Parish Councils and have already installed around 200 public charge points, mainly in car parks to offer a more cost effective alternative to the rapid charge point options. However, there is still lots of work to do considering that by 2030, 80% of new cars sold in Great Britain will be zero emission, increasing to 100% in 2035.
What are the next steps?
The great news is that we have now been awarded vital Government funding for Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) to significantly increase the amount of public charge points in Kent.
Over the coming years, we will help to provide thousands of public on-street charge points for residents who don’t have off-street parking, allowing them to plug in locally.
We will be appointing a charge point operator over the coming months who will run and manage the network.
Charge point locations - we need your help!
We are currently identifying potential locations for on-street charging points and welcome your thoughts, especially if you own an EV or are thinking about making the switch.
You can nominate your street for a public charge point using the interactive map below.
If your street has already been nominated don't let it put you off as it is useful for us to know where interest is high. We cannot guarantee that every suggested street will be suitable for a charge point, but we will investigate every suggestion made.

Suggest a charge point location
Using the interactive map, please let us know where you think would benefit from a charge point.
To add a charging point, click on + symbol in the top left of the screen and drag and drop the pin onto the location on the map. Use the plus and minus symbol in the bottom right of the screen to zoom in and out. You can search for an address using the magnifying glass symbol in the top right of the screen.
The location doesn't need to be exact as there are lots of elements we will consider when deciding where a charger will work best along a street. If there is already a pin in the location you would like to suggest please place an additional one, it helps us to know if lots of people want a charger in the same place!
Once you have dropped your pin you will also be asked some questions. The questions are not mandatory but we are grateful for your answers.
You will not need to register to to take part but you will need to provide an email address and screen name. Please make sure that the screen name you choose does not identify you as this will appear alongside your pin (your email will not be published).
The Network Innovations Team at Kent County Council will be able to view your email address via this platform and may contact you with any specific questions relating to your nominated location. Your data will be stored in line with the Lets Talk Kent Privacy Policy.
