Greenhithe Station to Ingress Park Avenue, Dartford - Enforcing Moving Traffic Offences

Consultation has concluded

Update: January 2024

Thank you to everyone who took part in this consultation. The Consultation Report is now available in the Documents section on this page.

The next step will be to advertise a new Traffic Regulation Order. We expect this to take place in Spring 2024. This would be followed by the installation of the ANPR cameras with enforcement starting soon after.

Kent County Council (KCC) are using new powers, approved by parliament in July 2022, to improve safety and tackle congestion by enforcing moving traffic contraventions.

We must ensure that reasonable improvements to the highway or traffic signing have been made prior to ANPR cameras being installed to avoid contraventions.

This site meets these requirements, as there are no further physical improvements that we can implement. The next step is to use cameras to enforce the restriction that is already in place.

To improve driver awareness of the restriction, we are proposing to change the blue bus gate sign to a ‘No Entry’ with exceptions for local buses.

The aim of the enforcement is to achieve the following objectives:

  • tackle congestion
  • increase public transport reliability
