Public Footpath ZR109 (part) Bobbing, Rail Crossing Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2024

Kent County Council has received an application, and subsequently made an Order, to divert part of Public Footpath ZR109 at Bobbing where it passes over railway level crossing.

Under the Highways Act 1980, an Order may be made to close or divert a Public Footpath, Bridleway or Restricted Byway where it is in the interests of the safety of users or likely users of at grade crossings. The test to be met in consideration of this Order is singularly the safety of users of the route. Other factors such as convenience (but not enjoyment) to the public, and the effect on the overall network, have also been considered.

    Objections were received.

    As a result, the Order, objections and other documentation have been submitted to the Secretary of State and will now be determined at a Public Inquiry to be held on Wednesday 14th January 2026.
