Various Roads, Walmer in the District of Dover - Amendment 3: Speed Limit Order

The effect of this made Order will be to extend the current speed limit of 30mph on the following length of roads in Walmer, Dover:-

  • Coldblow - from its junction with Ellens Road and Station Road for a distance of 10 metres in a southerly direction
  • Cross Road – from its junction with Ellens Road and Station Road for a distance of 260 metres in a northerly direction
  • Ellens Road – from its junction with Station Road and Cross Road for 20 metres in a westerly direction.

This Order was originally proposed as Amendment 9 but due to the recent consolidation order it has been re-named as above.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by 15 December 2025, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
