Various Roads, Newington in the Borough of Swale - Amendment 5: Waiting Restrictions

The effect of this made Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time double yellow lines (DYL) on the following length of roads in Newington, Swale:-

  • Boxted Lane – (1) on the east side from its junction with School Lane for a distance of 24 metres in a northerly direction (2) on the west side from its junction with Bricklands for a distance of 19 metres in a northerly direction
  • Bricklands – (1) on the south side from its junction with School Lane to its junction with Watercress Way (2) on the south side from its junction with Watercress Way for a distance of 15 metres in a westerly direction (3) on the north side from its junction with Boxted Lane for a distance of 36.5 metres in a north westerly direction
  • School Lane – (1) on the north east side extend the DYLs by 15 metres in a south easterly direction outside Parsonage House (2) on the north east side extend the existing lines from its junction with Blaxland Grange to its junction with Boxted Lane (3) on the south west side from its junction with Bricklands to its junction entrance with Newington School (4) on the southwest side place DYLs behind the school keep clears from the entrance to Newington School for a distance of 54 metres in a south easterly direction
  • Watercress Way – on both sides from its junction with Bricklands for a distance of 8.5 metres in a southerly direction.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians)
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.

  • School Lane – (1) on the north east side extend the DYLs by 15 metres in a south easterly direction outside Parsonage House (2) on the north east side extend the existing lines from its junction with Blaxland Grange to its junction with Boxted Lane (3) on the south west side from its junction with Bricklands to its junction entrance with Newington School (4) on the southwest side place DYLs behind the school keep clears from the entrance to Newington School for a distance of 54 metres in a south easterly direction
  • Watercress Way – on both sides from its junction with Bricklands for a distance of 8.5 metres in a southerly direction.

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by 25 August 2025, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
