Various Roads, Ivychurch in Folkestone & Hythe - Amendment 5: Speed Limit Order

Consultation has concluded

The effect of this made Order will be to reduce the current speed limit to 50mph and 40mph on Ashford Road in Ivychurch, Folkestone and Hythe:-

  • new 50mph limit from the junction with A2070 in a southerly direction for 820 meters
  • new 40mph 820 meters from junction with A2070 for 1465 meters in a southerly direction until it joins up with the existing 30mph speed limit
  • new 50mph from Ivychurch Business Park western boundary for 900 meters in a southerly direction
  • new 40mph from Five Vents Bridge 2709 meters in a southerly direction until it joins up with the existing 30mph speed limit.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • to avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by 29 April 2024, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
