Various Roads, Charing in the Borough of Ashford - Amendment 29: Waiting Restrictions

The effect of this proposed Order would be to introduce waiting restrictions -double yellow lines “no waiting at any time” - on the following length of roads in Charing, Ashford:-

  • High Street – (1) On its north west side from its junction with Maidstone Road for a distance of 15 metres in a north easterly direction (2) On its east side from its junction with Maidstone Road for a distance of 12 metres in a north easterly direction. (3) On the north west side place Mon-Sat 1 hour time limited parking bays with no return within 1 hour outside 1/3 The High Street.
  • The Hill – (1) On its north west side from its junction with Charing Hill for a distance of 27 metres in a southerly direction to join up with the existing DYLs. (2) On its south east side from its junction with Charing Hill for a distance of 36 metres in a southerly direction to join up with the existing DYLs.


This order is proposed for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians)
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.


The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
