Various Roads, Capel in the Borough of Tunbridge Wells - Amendment 2: Speed Limit

The effect of this proposed Order would be to remove the national limit and replace with a 40MPH speed limit in Capel, Tunbridge Wells on the following length of roads:-

  • Alders Road – For its entire length.
  • Church Lane – From its junction with Alders Road to a point 60 metres south of its junction with Five Oak Green Road.
  • Sychem Lane – From its junction with Alders Road to a point 426 metres south of its junction with Five Oak Green Road.

This order is proposed for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians)
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.


The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
