A report on the proposal, the outcome of the consultation (as detailed below) and recommendations were submitted to the Children, Young People and Education Cabinet Committee on the 17 January 2023, following which the Cabinet Member for Education and Skills took the decision to proceed with the proposals. The design of the school will be developed, and planning permission is currently being sought. Once planning permission has been granted, a Public Notice will be issued to finalise the expansion. If the proposal goes ahead, the intention would be to implement the change for September 2025.
Original Consultation
We would like to hear your views on the proposal to permanently enlarge Teynham Parochial Church of England Primary School from 1 Form of Entry (FE) to 2FE (210 places to 420 places) from September 2025 to meet the needs of pupil primary school places in Teynham, which is expanding due to a number of housing development in the vicinity.
We are proposing to permanently increase the size of the school by 1FE to meet the primary school pupil needs in Teynham. It is our intention to do this through rebuilding and expanding the school to meet increasing demand arising from new housing planned for the local area.
We have a statutory duty to ensure sufficient school places are available. The Commissioning Plan for Education Provision in Kent 2022-26 is a five-year rolling plan which is updated annually. It sets out KCC’s future plans as Strategic Commissioner of Education Provision across all types and phases of education in Kent.
