The effect of the proposed Order would be to reduce the 30mph speed limit to a 20mph speed limit on the following length of roads in Newington, Sittingbourne:

For their entire length:

Allsworth Close
Brookes Place
Bramley Close
Callaways Lane
Church Lane
Denham Road
Dennis Wilcocks Close
Frankapps Close
Hasted Road
Orchard Drive
Pear Tree Walk
Playstool Close
Playstool Road
School Lane
Station Road
St Marys View
The Tracies
The Willows
Vicarage Court
Wickham Close


  • Bull Lane: from a point 20 metres south of the southern boundary of 90 Bull Lane to its junction with High Street
  • High Street: from its junction with London Road to the boundary of 57/59 High Street
  • Iwade Road: from its eastern boundary of Moat View to its junction with School Lane
  • London Road: from its junction with High Street to the boundary of 28/30 London Road

And to reduce the national speed limit and extend the 30mph speed limit on the following length of roads in Borden, Sittingbourne:

  • Chestnut Street: for its entire length
  • Maidstone Road: from its junction with Chestnut Street for a distance of 120 metres in a westerly direction.

This order is being made for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising

The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
