St Stephen's Hill, Canterbury - Junction Improvement Scheme
We are considering changes to St Stephen’s Hill between its junctions with Downs Road and Hackington Close.
The junction has been identified as a location where improvements could help buses travel more safely and reliably, while also making it easier and safer for people to cross the road.
We are proposing to:
replace the existing give-way junction with a mini roundabout
reposition the pedestrian crossing and traffic-calming chicane on Downs Road
realign part of the kerb to make right turns into Downs Road safer
add a new pedestrian crossing on St Stephen’s Hill.
Please read the consultation document for more information about why we are considering these changes, their expected benefits and possible effects. You can also view the scheme plan.
Have your say
We want to hear your views to help finalise the scheme design.
If you cannot complete the questionnaire online, a Word version is available from this webpage.
If you have questions or need any support to take part in the consultation, you can contact us via the contact details under the 'Who's listening' section on this webpage. When contacting us, please quote the reference ‘St Stephen's Hill’.
Next steps
After the consultation closes, we will review all responses and publish a report summarising the feedback. We will also share details of any decisions on this webpage. If the scheme goes ahead, we will contact local residents and businesses before work starts.
