Relocating Tunbridge Wells Family Hub Services at Grove Hill Road

This consultation is about a proposal to move Tunbridge Wells Family Hub services from their current location at 39a Grove Hill Road to The Amelia Scott on Mount Pleasant Road. Both buildings are located in central Tunbridge Wells. The Amelia Scott is approximately 0.4 miles from Grove Hill Road, which is around a 10-minute walk, so services would remain in a central and accessible town centre location. When developing this proposal, we considered:

  • the needs of children, young people and families,
  • the opportunity to improve the Family Hub offer,
  • the potential to work more closely with partners, and
  • KCC’s financial situation and ways to reduce costs across our estate.

The proposal would keep Family Hub services in Tunbridge Wells town centre and would not remove or reduce the service offer. Services would continue to be delivered by Kent County Council (KCC) staff, alongside partner services where appropriate, from a more contemporary and welcoming shared public building. The Amelia Scott is already familiar to many residents and partner organisations, and this may help improve awareness, attendance and opportunities for joined-up support.

Next steps

Following the end of the consultation, we will review all responses, update the Equality Impact Assessment (if needed), and prepare a consultation report to help inform the final decision.

The consultation report, updated EqIA and committee papers are expected to be considered by the Children, Young People and Education (CYPE) Cabinet Committee in Autumn 2026.

If the proposal is approved, the Family Hubs team would contact families, young people, carers, staff and partner organisations who may be affected by the move. We would provide information in advance about when the move would happen, how services would continue to be delivered, how to access The Amelia Scott, and any temporary arrangements that may be available during any transition period.
