The Chairman Lesley Game talks about her volunteering experience
I first found out about Kitchen Social from a meeting I had with the founder Lucy Gray.
They support the local community by tackling the root causes of poverty and issues such as poor health, isolation and low skills over a six-month period. They deliver education programmes and in particular food education, health and well-being in a fun and interesting way, as well as providing weekly access to food for struggling families.
Whilst at Kitchen Social, I spent time with Lucy at her stall which is run every Saturday morning, selling at very reduced prices bowls of fruit and vegetables, a selection of cheeses, eggs and various meats, at the same time offering nutritional ideas and menu plans. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and will be back to help out.
