Kent Active Travel - First consultation

Consultation has concluded

The government have created an Active Travel Fund to enable councils to provide improved walking and cycling facilities. We submitted a bid and have been successful in securing funding for five schemes.

We sought your views on our initial ideas for these schemes, which seek to improve the health, wellbeing and safety of local people, as well as support the local economy.

The five schemes are:

  • Canterbury: Littlebourne Road to the City Centre
  • Folkestone: Central Railway Station to Cheriton
  • Thanet: Birchington to Margate Sands
  • Folkestone: Hythe to Dymchurch
  • Gravesham: Gravesend to Northfleet

They aim to encourage and enable active travel, which means walking or cycling as a means of transport as well as for leisure. Making active travel an attractive and realistic choice for short journeys.

We want to understand and incorporate the views of local residents, stakeholders and the travelling public in our proposals. Your feedback will be vital in helping us shape how the schemes are progressed.
