High Street, Wouldham in the Borough of Tonbridge and Malling - Amendment 2: Traffic Movements

Consultation has concluded

The effect of this made Order will be to introduce various traffic movements on the following length of roads in Burham and Wouldham, Tonbridge & Malling:-

  • High Street, Wouldham – prohibition of motor vehicles at the junction with School Lane (except buses) when travelling in a southerly direction
  • Rochester Road, Burham – (1) no right-hand turn into Scarborough Lane and the junction with Rochester Road (2) no right-hand turn into Church Street at the junction with Rochester Road.

This was an experimental order that is now being made permanent after the trial period and adjustments to the scheme have been made after the first consultation.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road of for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by 5 January 2026, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
