Hart Street, Maidstone in the Borough of Maidstone - Amendment 8: Prohibition of Traffic Movements

The effect of this made Order will be to introduce a one way system and a banned turn movement on the following length of roads in Maidstone:-

  • Hart Street – from its southern junction with Barker Road to its northern junction with Barker Road (except cycles) travelling in a north then easterly direction
  • Barker Road – no right or left hand turn movement permitted into Hart Street at the northern junction with Barker Road.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • to improve flow of traffic within the Lockmeadow estate by reducing turning movements and encouraging traffic to use the one-way section of Hart Street. The scheme also aims to improve local amenity of the area by reducing congestion and driver conflict
  • to reduce queuing traffic on Barker Road and the A20 The Broadway
  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).
