Clive Road, Gravesend - Enforcing Moving Traffic Offences

Consultation has concluded

Kent County Council (KCC) are using new powers, approved by parliament in July 2022, to improve safety and tackle congestion by enforcing moving traffic contraventions.

We must ensure that reasonable improvements to the highway or traffic signing have been made prior to ANPR cameras being installed to avoid contraventions. This site meets these requirements, as during the regeneration of this area, we removed any obsolete signs and installed a blue surfacing to make the bus gate more obvious. Despite this, unauthorised vehicles are still using this route.

To improve awareness of the restriction, we are proposing to change the blue bus gate sign to a ‘No Entry’ with exceptions for local buses and cycles.

The aim of the enforcement is to achieve the following:

  • tackle congestion
  • increase public transport reliability
