Broomhill Park Road, Southborough in Tunbridge Wells - Prohibition of driving

Following a successful period as an experimental order it has been decided to make this a permanent order for Southborough C of E Primary School, Broomhill Park Road, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells. The result is a safer, healthier, and more pleasant environment at the school entrance.

The ‘School Streets’ schemes offer a proactive solution for school communities to tackle air pollution, poor health and road danger reduction. The scheme promotes healthier lifestyles and facilitates an increase in active travel to/from school for families, creating a better environment for everyone.

The effect of the Order would be to revoke the experimental order that has been in place since 13 September 2021 and replace it with a permanent order to stop vehicles from driving either way along Broomhill Park Road from its junction with Prospect Road Southborough, Tunbridge Wells between 8am - 8.45am and 2.45pm – 3.30pm Monday to Friday making it safer for children traveling to school:

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).
