Trains in Europe are good and surprisingly cheap if you book well in advance. I like to take the sleeper trains to south of France in a couchette, which means I arrive well rested. The couchettes have lights and electric plugs. You share with 5 others, so sleep in your clothes. It is cheap if you book as soon as they come online (about 12 weeks before) . You can book via Trainline.com. The website Man in Seat 61 is really useful and informative. The most expensive part of your journey will be Eurostar. Book it well ahead. (Often over 12 weeks in advance ). We enjoy spending a few hours in Paris on the way out and back. You can dump your luggage in a left luggage locker at the station.

Leave the car at home for one more short trip each week. Take the time to enjoy the journey, increase your activity and have positive impact on local air pollution and your carbon footprint- it's a win win!

Set up a table with some pre-loved items that others could use again. You can do this in your front garden, workplace or at a community event like a Farmers Market. Email KES@kent.gov.uk if you want a swap shop and freecycling starter pack with tips and template posters :-)

Sevenoaks Town Council would like to do our part in The Great Big Green Week by offering everyone the opportunity to make bee or bug hotels for our green spaces. Due to the loss to local habitat, climate change, and pesticide use these small but important insects are slow diminishing. Bug and bee hotels act as a great hideaway home for wildlife, hosting pollinators such as solitary bees, ladybirds and woodlice, or even hedgehogs and toads! If you'd like to make a bug or bee hotel for the towns green spaces, drop your hotel off at the Bat and Ball Community Centre, TN14 5DN between the 12th - 23rd June 9am - 4pm. We'll begin distributing these around our green spaces such as The Vine, Greatness Recreational ground, and Sevenoaks Common.
