Victoria Crescent & George Street in the Borough of Ashford - Amendment 4: Waiting restrictions

The effect of this made Order will be to introduce or amend existing waiting restrictions (double yellow lines) on the following length of roads in the Borough of Ashford:-

  • Victoria Crescent – (1) on the southwest side extending the existing restrictions for a distance of 8 metres in a south easterly direction (2) on the southwest side from the junction with George Street and the southern entrance to Victoria Point to the entrance to the Riviere Apartments.
  • George Street – (1) on the east side at the junction with Victoria Crescent and the entrance to Victoria Point for a distance of 6 metres in a north easterly direction (2) on southeast side of the road on both sides of the entrance to Bridgewater House for a distance of 15 metres in a southerly direction and 5 metres in a northerly direction to join up with the existing DYLs (3) shared Parking Bays Limited Waiting 2 hours with no return for 4 hours and Permit Holders Only G on the southeast side for a distance of 31 meters outside Victoria Point in the parking bay layby.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by 18 September 2023, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
