Various roads in Wingham, Dover - Speed limit order

Consultation has concluded

The effect of this made Order will be to reduce the existing 30MPH speed limit to 20MPH speed limit on the following length of roads in Wingham, Dover.

For their entire length:

College Road
Court Cottages Lane
Edmund Street
Harris's Alley
Miles Court
Miller Close
North Court Close
North Court Road
Orchard Close
Oxenden Crescent
Palmer Road
School Lane
South Court Drive
St. Marys Meadow
Sweetlove Place
Canterbury Road
High Street
Staple Road


Also, to change the existing 30MPH speed limit on Canterbury Road - from the western property boundary of Bridge House for a distance of 285 metres in a westerly direction.

And, to reduce the existing National Speed Limit to 30MPH on:

  • Adisham Road - from its junction with High Street for a distance of 80 metres in a southerly direction.
  • Preston Road – from its junction with Preston Hill for a distance of 400 metres in a north easterly direction.
  • Staple Road – from its junction with Miller Close for a distance of 192 metres in an easterly direction.

This order is being made for the following reasons:

  • avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.
