Various Roads, Riverhead and Chevening in the District of Sevenoaks - Amendment 4: Speed Limit Order

The effect of this made Order will be to extend the current 20mph zone on the following lengths of roads in Riverhead and Chevening, Sevenoaks:-

  • Barnfield Road. Bullfinch Lane, Chesterfield Drive, Elmstead Close, Stanhope Way & Witches Lane - for their entire length
  • Chevening Road – extend the existing limit from the property boundary of 52/54 Chevening Road for a distance of 416 metres in a north westerly direction to the existing 40mph limit
  • Chipstead Lane – from its junction with Witches Lane to its junction with The Square.

This order is has been made for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by Monday 15 December 2025 at 12 noon, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
