Various roads in Tonbridge and Malling - Amendment 48: Speed limit order

The effect of this made Order would be to make the experimental order permanent and reduced the 30mph speed limit to 20mph speed limit on the following lengths of roads:

• Brook Street – from its junction with Quarry Hill Road to a point 12 metres east of its junction with Lower Haysden Lane.
• Hadlow Road – from its junction with Bordyke to a point 40 metres south west of its junction with Cannon Lane.
• High Street – from its junction with Vale to a point 95 metres north of its junction with Bordyke.
• Sovereign Way – from its junction with Medway Wharf Road to a point 8 metres south east of its junction with Avenue Du Puy.
• Vale Road – from its junction with Railway Approach to its junction with Sovereign Way.

For their entire length:

This order has been made for the following reasons:

• avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
• for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.
• for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

Anyone may, by application to the High Court by 28 March 2022 at 12:00 Midday, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
