Various Roads in Hernehill & Staple Street in the Borough of Swale - Amendment 8: Speed Limit Order

The effect of this made Order will be to reduce the current speed limit to 30mph on the following lengths of roads in Staple Street and Hernehill, Swale:-

  • Church Hill – from its junction with Staple Street for a distance of 45 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Staple Street - from its junction with Butts Hill to its junction with Staplestreet Road.
  • Staplestreet Road – from its junction with Staple Street for a distance of 421 metres in a south easterly direction.
  • Church Hill – from southern property boundary of St Michaels Church for a distance of 720 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Crockham Lane – from its junction with Church Hill for a distance of 200 metres in a south easterly direction.
  • Kays Lane – from its junction with Church Hill for a distance of 200 metres in a north westerly direction.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by 24 February 2025 , challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
