Various Roads, Chartham Hatch in the District of Canterbury - Amendment 6: Speed Limit Order

The effect of this proposed Order would be to change the existing 30mph speed limit and implement a 20mph speed limit on the following lengths of roads in Chartham Hatch, Canterbury:

  • Bigbury Road – from its junction with Gravel Hill for a distance of 349 metres in a north easterly direction
  • Denstead Lane - from its junction with Gravel Hill for a distance of 84 metres in a northerly direction
  • Howfield Lane – from its junction with Gravel Hill for a distance of 461 metres in an easterly then south easterly direction
  • Gravel Hill – for its entire length
  • New Town Street – from its junction with Howfield Lane for a distance of 292 metres in a southerly direction
  • Nightingale Close – for its entire length
  • Town Lane - from its junction with Bigbury Road for a distance of 90 metres in a south westerly direction.

This order is proposed for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
