Various Roads, Brenchley & Matfield in the Borough of Tunbridge Wells - Amendment 3: Speed Limit

The effect of this proposed Order would be to remove the current National Speed Limit and 40MPH speed limit and replace it with a 30MPH speed limit in Brenchley & Matfield, Tunbridge Wells on the following length of roads:-

  • Blind Lane – For its entire length.
  • Crook Road – (1) From its junction with Pixot Hill for a distance of 240 metres in an easterly direction. (2) 80 metres west of its junction with Palmers Green Lane for a distance of 270 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Furnace Lane – From its junction with Crook Road for a distance of 80 metres in a southerly direction.
  • Holly Bank – For its entire length.
  • Palmers Green Lane – From its junction with Crook road for a distance of 20 metres in a southerly direction.
  • Pearsons Green Road – From its junction with Crook road for a distance of 85 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Pixot Hill – At its junction with Crook Road for a distance of 270 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Yew Tree Green Road – From its junction with Crook Road for a distance of 80 metres in an easterly direction.

This order is proposed for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians)
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.


The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
