Various roads, Ash in the District of Dover - Amendment 8: Speed Limit

The effect of this proposed Order would be to change the current speed limit to a 20MPH speed limit on the following length of roads in Ash, Dover:-

  • Becket Close, Cartwright Close, Chilton Field, Chilton Gardens, Chilton Place, Chilton Square, Glebelands, Holness Road, James Close, Mill Field, Molland Close, Molland Lane, Molland Lea, Orchard View, School Road, Ship Yard Road, The Street, Woods Ley – For their entire length.
  • Chequer Lane – From its junction with The Street for a distance of 540 metres in a northerly direction.
  • Guilton - From its junction with The Street for a distance of 239 metres in a south westerly direction.
  • Moat Lane – From its junction with The Street for a distance of 165 metres in a south easterly direction.
  • New Street – From its junction with The Street for a distance of 769 metres in a south easterly direction.
  • Pudding Lane - From its junction with The Street for a distance of 80 metres in a southerly direction.
  • Queens Road - From its junction with The Street for a distance of 500 metres in a northerly direction.


This order is proposed for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).


The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
