The Street, Postling in the District of Folkestone and Hythe - Amendment 1: Speed Limit

The effect of this proposed Order would be to reduce the 30MPH speed limit and introduce a 20MPH speed limit zone on the following lengths of roads in Postling, Folkestone and Hythe:-

  • Cuckoo Lane – From its junction with The Street for a distance of 140 metres in a south easterly direction.
  • Pilgrims Way – From its junction with The Street and Staple Lane for a distance of 130 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Staple Lane - From its junction with The Street to its eastern property boundary with The Granary.
  • The Street - For its entire length.


This order is proposed for the following reasons:

  • avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).


The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
