The Kent County Council (Footpath SR535 (part) at Chiddingstone) Definitive Map Modification Order 2024
Consultation has concluded
Kent County Council has made an Order to amend the legal record of Public Rights of Way, known as the Definitive Map, by amending part of the alignment of public footpath SR535 at Chiddingstone.
The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 states that the Highway Authority may make a Definitive Map Modification Order to amend the Definitive Map and Statement by adding a public right of way if it is shown that the right of the public to use it is at least 'reasonably alleged to subsist' and by deleting an existing route if the evidence demonstrates that route ‘ought not’ to be shown.
The County Council has made an Order after considering historical mapping evidence that showed it was reasonable to allege that the Definitive Map and Statement should be amended to delete part of the current recorded alignment of public footpath SR535 and to add a different alignment of public footpath SR535.
