November 2021

The Governors of Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School Academy Trust, and Kent County Council (KCC), are seeking views on a proposal to expand Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Abbey Place, Faversham, Kent, ME13 7BQ by increasing the Published Admission Number (PAN) from 150 places to 180 places from September 2023.

KCC as the Local Authority has a statutory duty to ensure sufficient school places are available. The County Council’s Commissioning Plan for Education Provision in Kent 2021-25 is a five-year rolling plan which is updated annually. It sets out our future plans as Strategic Commissioner of Education Provision across all types and phases of education in Kent. The plan can be viewed at this link:

It is anticipated that there will be short and medium-term pressures for additional Year 7 grammar school places in the Canterbury and Faversham Selective Planning Group which indicates that additional capacity will be needed for 2023 and in later years. Therefore, KCC has asked Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School to provide additional places for local students by expanding the school by 1FE (30 places) from a PAN of 150 to 180 from 2023.

The consultation document and response form can be accessed on the school’s website.
