Lydd Road, New Romney in the District of Folkestone and Hythe - Amendment 22: Waiting Restrictions

The effect of this made Order will be to place double yellow lines no waiting at any time on the following lengths of road in New Romney, Folkestone and Hythe:-

  • Lydd Road - (1) On the south-west side from its junction with Speakers Close for a distance of 45 metres in a north-westerly direction. (2) On the south-west side from its junctions with Speakers Close for a distance of 49 metres in a south-easterly direction. (3) On the north-east side from its junction with Sussex Road to its junction with Longshore Grove excluding the disabled persons parking bay. (4) On the north-east side from its junction with Longshore Grove for a distance of 14 metres in a north-westerly direction. (5) On the north east side from its junction with Sussex Road for a distance of 11 metres in a southerly direction. (6) Remove the DPPB from outside 1 Spitalfield Terrace.
  • Speakers Close – On both sides from its junction with Lydd Road for a distance of 5 metres in a south westerly direction.
  • Sussex Road – On the south side place the DPPB from a point 10 metres east of the junction with Lydd Road for a distance of 6.6 metres in a easterly direction.

This order has been made for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

    Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

    Anyone may, by application to the High Court by Monday 14 September 2026, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
