Restricted Byway KH669 and Byway Open to All Traffic KH670 at Lenham Definitive Map Modification Order 2025

Kent County Council has received an application to amend the legal record of Public Rights of Way, known as the Definitive Map and Statement, by recording a route running between the A20 Ashford Road (at Old Shelve Farm) and Rose Lane at Lenham.

Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, an Order may be made to modify the Definitive Map where it is considered that a public right of way which is not shown on the map is reasonably alleged to subsist.

In this case, following investigation by the County Council, the application was declined but, as a result of a successful appeal to the Planning Inspectorate, the County Council has now been directed to make a Definitive Map Modification Order to record the route partly at Restricted Byway status and partly at Byway Open to All Traffic status. The Order will only take effect if it is confirmed; making and advertising the Order provides an opportunity for objections and representations to be made.

Further details about the Order (including how to respond) and a plan showing the proposal can be found by viewing the Documents section.

The deadline for responses is 30 June 2025.
