Kent Care Summit 2023

We are hosting the second annual Kent Care Summit. This exciting in-person event will build on our first care summit conversation to enable delegates to explore and share how co-production and innovative adult social care can improve people’s lives in our communities. Read about the first Kent Care Summit and the commissioning intentions that were co-produced as a result.

Who is this event for?

It’s an opportunity for adults that draw on care and support, carers, the care workforce, system leaders, commissioners, providers and community organisations in Kent to join up and work together.

Why have the event now?

It’s been a challenging few years, with the impacts of COVID, workforce burnout and recruitment issues being felt. However, in Kent we have collective strength in our working relationships and our shared ambition to make a difference every day in adult social care.

This is an opportunity to come together in person, to hear about our vision for adult social care, and to revisit the Kent Commissioning Intentions that were developed in partnership with delegates in attendance at last year’s event.

To establish how far we have come and what more we need to do to enable people to live a good life, we will be:

  • focusing on people’s lived experiences to create positive change
  • sharing innovations and new models of care and support
  • discussing how we can tackle key challenges
  • spotlighting the progress so far by drawing on real people’s stories

What's new for this year?

This year we will be holding an in-person summit in east Kent. There will be a variety of contributors sharing what is important to people with lived experience of adult social care and unpaid carers, interactive workshop sessions and a marketplace that aims to offer useful information and resources.

We are proud to be joined by people with lived experience of social care in Kent as well as the following contributors:

  • Clenton Farquharson MBE – Commissioner, Chair of Think Local Act Personal, Disability Campaigner and Advisor to UK Government on Social Care Reform
  • Isaac Samuels – National Co-production Advisory Group
  • Cat Duncan-Rees Curators of Change
