Various roads, Hollingbourne in Maidstone - 24 Hour Clearway Order

Consultation has concluded

The effect of this made Order will be to introduce a 24 hour clearway in both directions on the following roads in Hollingbourne:

  • Ashford Road (A20) – On both carriageways from a point 57 metres south east of the junction with Old Mill Road to a point 268 metres south east of the junction with Penfold Hill (including roundabouts). 
  • Eyhorne Street – From the junction with Ashford Road (A20) for a distance of 10 metres in a north easterly direction. 
  • Penfold Hill – From the junction with Ashford Road (A20) for a distance of 15 metres in a southerly direction. 

This order has been made for the following reasons:

    • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising.
    • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.
    • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).

Following the statutory consultation period, the scheme has been reviewed and the decision has been taken to make this Order permanent.

Anyone may, by application to the High Court by 10 January 2022, challenge the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or any instrument made thereunder, or that there has been a failure to comply with any statutory requirement to the Orders.
