Bridleway HE377 and Public Footpath HE245 (Part) at Newington Definitive Map Modification Order 2025

Kent County Council has received an application, and subsequently made an Order, to amend the legal record of Public Rights of Way, known as the Definitive Map and Statement, by recording a Bridleway running between Newington Road at Peene and Beachborough Road at Etchinghill. The proposal involves upgrading parts of existing Public Footpath HE245 and also deleting a short section of that footpath (to correct its alignment).

Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the County Council must make an Order to modify the Definitive Map where it is considered that a public right of way which is not shown on the map is reasonably alleged to subsist. Changes may also be made in cases where the evidence demonstrates that a particular route ought to be shown at a higher status, or where a particular route is recorded in error on the map.

Further details about the application (including how to respond) and a plan showing the proposal can be found by viewing in the Documents section.

The deadline for responses is Friday 12 December 2025.
