Restricted Byway ER309, ER218B and ER217 at Hougham Without Definitive Map Modification Orders

Kent County Council has received an application, and subsequently made two Orders, to amend the legal record of Public Rights of Way, known as the Definitive Map and Statement, by:

(a) upgrading Bridleway ER217 at Hougham Without to Restricted Byway status; and

(b) upgrading Bridleway ER218B at Hougham Without to Restricted Byway status, as well as recording a new Restricted Byway at Coombe Road, near Poulton Farm, at Hougham Without.

Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, the County Council must make an Order to modify the Definitive Map where it is considered that a public right of way which is not shown on the map is reasonably alleged to subsist, or where it is considered that a way already shown on the map ought to be shown at a different status.

Further details about the application (including how to respond) and a plan showing the proposal can be found by viewing the Documents section.

The deadline for responses is Monday 6 July 2026.
