Draft "Create a Bedroom Scheme" Policy

Kent County Council (KCC) is seeking your views on the “Create a Bedroom Scheme”, to support in-house foster carers to increase their capacity to foster. The funding would be accessed to increase the space in the family home to enable an additional foster bedroom for children in care. This may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Dividing a large room to create a bedroom
  • Towards the cost of a small single story extension
  • Towards the cost of a loft or garage conversion
  • Towards the cost of outbuildings, annexes or ‘garden pods’ for use by the foster carer’s adult children and as such creating an additional bedroom within the fostering household
  • Towards the costs of creating an adapted bedroom for a disabled child, alongside accessing a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).

Have your say

We are keen to hear your thoughts on the “Create a Bedroom Scheme”. We have provided this questionnaire for you to give your feedback.

Following the end of the consultation, we will review all responses, update the Equality Impact Assessment (if needed), and prepare a consultation report to help inform the final decision.

It also means that when you submit your response you will receive a copy by email for your own records.

As with all our consultations, a Word version of the questionnaire is available from the consultation webpage for people who would prefer not to complete the online version.
