Coxheath Primary School
Consultation has concluded
September 2025 Update:
In September 2024 the school welcomed a larger Reception intake, offering additional places by adapting the current buildings and introducing a modular classroom. It had been anticipated that a larger intake would then be offered every year to ensure all children within the area were able to secure a school place. The County Council has informed the school that whilst the number of children being born in Coxheath or moving into the area having been born somewhere else still remains higher than it was a few years ago, the growth in the population has slowed in the past year.
Whilst many areas within Kent and across the country are seeing a decreasing number of children being born each year, Coxheath continues to see higher levels of births compared to 2020, but the increase is now much smaller than it was previously and will not require additional school places to be commissioned, there are enough places within schools to accommodate all children.
Discussions between the school and KCC have taken place to explore relevant information and data, the school continues to be committed to supporting the local community through expansion if it is required; at this time, it's clear that additional school places won't be needed over the next few years. The size of the population will continue to be monitored by KCC and if there is ever a need for additional school places KCC will seek to work with the school in future.
The Coppice Primary Partnership academy trust and the Local Governing Body, with support from Kent County Council (KCC), are proposing to expand Coxheath Primary School to help provide more places for local children.
KCC has identified the need for additional Year R places in the Coxheath planning group. In order to ensure there are sufficient places for local children going forwards, KCC has asked the Academy to provide additional provision by expanding from 420 places to 630 places, increasing the published admission number (PAN) from 60 to 90 for Year R entry in September 2025.
KCC as the Local Authority (LA), has a statutory duty to ensure sufficient school places are available. The County Council’s Commissioning Plan for Education Provision in Kent 2023-27 is a five-year rolling plan which is updated annually. It sets out KCC’s future plans as Strategic Commissioner of Education Provision across all types and phases of education in Kent. A copy of the plan can be viewed from this link:

For provision planning purposes KCC’s forecasting methodology produces forecasts according to planning groups. These planning groups are nationally recognised by central Government; Coxheath Primary School is part of the Coxheath primary planning group.
