Chatsworth Road, Dartford in the Borough of Dartford - Prohibition of Traffic Movements Experimental Order
Consultation has concluded
This experimental Order has now been abandoned as on 4 October 2024.
The effect of the Experimental Order would be to stop vehicles from driving either way along Chatsworth Road, Dartford from its junction with Arundel Road in a south westerly direction to the extremity of the highway, between 8.15am – 9.15am and 2.45pm – 3.45pm Monday to Friday making it safer for children traveling to school.
This order has been made for the following reasons:
- to avoid the danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
- for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs
- for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians).
Following a successful ‘School Street Trial’ at Drapers Mill School, Thanet and at Southborough C of E Primary School, Tunbridge Wells, a further trial has been proposed at Holy Trinity C of E Primary School, Chatsworth Road, Dartford. The result is a safer, healthier, and more pleasant environment at the school entrance. The ‘School Streets’ schemes offer a proactive solution for school communities to tackle air pollution, poor health and road danger reduction with promoting a healthier lifestyle and increased active travel to school for families and a better environment for everyone.
The Order will come into effect on the 22 April 2024 on an experimental basis for a period of eighteen months. The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
Full details, including the scheme plan, can be found in the Public Notice and Statement for Reason document.
Any person wishing to object or support the Order before it is made permanent can do so via our response form below.
