Public Footpath CC16 (part), Canterbury Rail Crossing Extinguishment and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2026
Kent County Council has received an application, and subsequently made an Order, to extinguish part of Public Footpath CC16 at Canterbury.
Under the Highways Act 1980, an Order may be made to close or divert a Public Footpath, Bridleway or Restricted Byway where it is in the interests of the safety of users or likely users of at grade crossings. The test to be met in consideration of this Order is singularly the safety of users of the route. Other factors such as convenience (but not enjoyment) to the public, and the effect on the overall network, have also been considered.
Further details about the application (including how to respond) and a plan showing the proposal can be found by viewing the Order, Notice and Statement in the Documents section.
The deadline for responses is 23 October 2026.
