Public Footpath AT121A, Appledore Definitive Map Modification Order and Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2026

Kent County Council has made an Order, to amend the legal record of Public Rights of Way, known as the Definitive Map, by amending part of the alignment of Public Footpath AT121A at Appledore.

The County Council made the order after considering historical mapping evidence that showed it was reasonable to allege that the Definitive Map and Statement should be amended to delete the current recorded alignment of Public Footpath AT121A (as shown by the purple line between points A-B in the Order plan) and to add a different alignment of Public Footpath AT121A (as shown by the dashed black line between points A-C in the Order Plan).

Subsequently, the County Council has also made an Order to divert part of the amended Public Footpath AT121A at Appledore

Under the Highways Act 1980, an Order may be made to close or divert a Public Footpath, Bridleway or Restricted Byway where it is in the interests of the landowner and/or the public to do so. In considering a proposal, the County Council will have regard to whether the new route is substantially less convenient to the public and the impact of the proposed diversion on the public enjoyment of the route as a whole.
