Ashford Road, Hamstreet in the Borough of Ashford - Amendment 19: Waiting Restrictions

The effect of this proposed Order would be to introduce waiting restrictions (DYL means double yellow lines “no waiting at any time”) on the following length of roads in Hamstreet, Ashford:-

  • Ashford Road – DYL – (1) On the south-west side from the northern kerbline of the entrance to Hamstreet Primary Academy for a distance of 31 metres in a northerly direction. (2) On the north-east side opposite the northern kerbline entrance of Hamstreet Primary Academy for a distance of 28 metres in a northerly direction. (3) On the southern kerbline on both sides of the entrance to Hamstreet Primary academy to join Ashford Road for a distance of 5 metres. (4) On the east side from its junction with Brimstone Road for a distance of 35 metres in a southerly direction. (5) On the south-west side place School Keep Clear markings Mon-Fri 8am-5pm from opposite the southern kerbline of Brimstone Road for a distance of 36 metres in a southerly direction. (6) On the north-east side place no waiting Mon-Fri 8am-6pm single yellow lines from its junction with St Mary’s Close for a distance of 14 metres in a northerly direction. (7) On the north-west side from a point opposite 15 metres north of its junction with St Marys Close for a distance of 45 metres in a southerly direction place no waiting Mon-Fri 8am-6pm. (8) On the southern kerbline of the entrance to Ham Street Station for a distance of 8 metres in an easterly direction place no waiting Mon-Fri 8am-6pm. (9) On both sides place a puffin crossing from the southern kerbline with Brimstone Road to the entrance to Hamstreet Primary Academy
  • Brimstone Road – DYL – (1) On the north-west side from its junction with Ashford Road to its junction with Unnamed Road for a distance of 58 metres in an easterly direction. (2) On the north-west side from its junction with Unnamed Road for a distance of 35 metres in an easterly direction. (3) On the south-east side from its junction with Ashford Road for a distance of 99 metres in an easterly direction
  • St Mary's Close – SYL – On both sides of its junction with Ashford Road for a distance of 8 metres in an easterly direction place no waiting Mon-Fri 8am-6pm
  • Unnamed Road – DYL – On both sides from its junction with Brimstone Road for its entire length.

This order is proposed for the following reasons:

  • for avoiding danger to persons or other traffic using the road or any other road or for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising
  • for facilitating the passage on the road or any other road of any class of traffic (including pedestrians)
  • for preventing damage to the road or to any building on or near the road
  • for preserving or improving the amenities of the area through which the road runs.

The scheme will be reviewed so that the Council can make the decision to make the Order permanent, amend or abandon it.
