A249 Key Street and Grovehurst Road Junction Improvement Schemes
Consultation has concluded
We sought views on our initial designs for two junction improvement schemes on the A249 in Sittingbourne at Key Street and Grovehurst Road.
The Key Street and Grovehurst Road junctions are along the A249, to the north east of the M2 Junction 5 heading towards the Isle of Sheppey.
The overall aims of the schemes are to reduce congestion, improve journey time reliability, provide additional road capacity for planned growth in the area and to promote more sustainable means of travel through improvements to the pedestrian and cycle facilities.
Your feedback will help us shape our proposals so that they best suit the needs of your local community, businesses and road users.

The Consultation Report, which summarises the analysis and findings from the consultation, along with feedback reports, providing responses to key areas of feedback for both Grovehurst Road and Key Street are available to download from the 'Consultation documents' section.
The findings are being used by the project team to help shape the designs for both Grovehurst Road and Key Street.
The planning application is currently being prepared for the Grovehurst Road scheme and should be submitted in Autumn 2021. The Key Street Junction scheme does not require a planning submission so the next step is to confirm the scheme layout.
